02 — Inside the app

The screens you will actually use

Real screens from BurnCal AI, shown at their own proportions.

Activity, counted honestly

Log a session in a sentence. The headline figure is the energy you spent above resting metabolism, not the inflated gross number most calculators report.

  • Sessions logged from plain language
  • Net burn as the headline, gross shown alongside
  • Every figure traceable to a MET value and your own weight

Progress you can read at a glance

A smoothed trend with the daily swing separated out, so you see direction instead of water weight.

  • Weight trend and daily noise shown apart
  • Weekly summaries you can compare
  • Measurements alongside, if you track them

Every meal, and what it added up to

Meal history and nutrition progress in one view, with a confidence level on each estimate so you know which numbers to trust and which to correct.

  • A sentence, a photo or a barcode is a complete entry
  • Confidence shown on every estimate
  • Protein, carbs and fat tracked against your own targets

Decide once, not six times a day

The Meal Planner builds a week from food you have already eaten and rated, so the plan looks like your life rather than a stock menu.

  • Plans drawn from your own log
  • Swap a meal without rebuilding the week
  • Shopping follows from the plan

04 — What you get

Eight things, working on day one

Nothing here is a roadmap item.

AI Coach

Reads the week you actually logged and proposes a single change, with its reasoning attached. It never diagnoses, never prescribes, and never sends a motivational message you did not ask for.

Meal logging

Write it the way you would say it. One sentence becomes a structured entry you can edit.

Photo scanning

Point the camera at the plate. Portions are estimated, labelled with a confidence level, and yours to adjust.

Barcode scanning

Packaged food resolves to its own label rather than a near-enough database match.

Meal planning

A week built from food you have already eaten and rated, not from a stock menu.

Progress

Weight trend with the daily swing separated from the direction, plus the measurements you choose to track alongside it.

Streaks

Measured in weeks logged. A missed Tuesday is a missed Tuesday, not a reset to zero.

Badges

Earned for things inside your control — logging a full week, correcting an estimate, planning ahead — never for hitting a number on a scale.

Join the Founding 1,000

25% off your first 3 paid months

$9.99 reduced to $7.49 / month

Verify your email before early access opens on August 25, 2026 and the discount is attached to your membership. It applies to your first three paid months, which begin after the free trial ends.

If 1,000 verified members join before launch

The Founding 1,000 discount automatically upgrades to 50% off the first 3 paid months

$9.99 reduced to $4.99 / month

The upgrade reaches every founding member, including the people who joined on day one, and there is nothing to claim. If the cohort does not fill, the 25% rate stands.

The two discounts do not stack. The 50% rate replaces the 25% rate rather than adding to it, so your first three paid months are discounted once — at 25%, or at 50% if the cohort fills. After those three promotional paid months, the regular $9.99 a month applies to monthly subscribers.

No payment required today. Joining early access does not charge you and does not start the free trial. Full conditions are set out in the Founding 1,000 promotion terms.

06 — The difference

Why it is different from other calorie trackers

Six places where the usual approach breaks down, and what BurnCal AI does instead.

Portions

A “medium bowl” covers anything from 200 to 600 calories, and the app picks one without telling you.

Photo scanning estimates the portion on the plate, shows its working, and lets you correct it in one tap.

Confidence

Every entry is reported to the calorie, however wild the underlying guess.

Each estimate carries a confidence level. Low-confidence entries ask you to confirm rather than quietly counting themselves.

Effort

Searching a database item by item, which is exactly the step people abandon.

“Two eggs, sourdough, flat white” is a complete log entry. So is a photo, or a barcode.

Coaching

Generic tips on a fixed schedule, unrelated to what you actually logged.

One change a week, drawn from your own log, with the reasoning shown so you can disagree with it.

Consistency

A streak that resets to zero the first day life gets in the way.

Consistency counted in weeks logged, so one missed day costs you a day — not your record.

Progress

A weight chart that moves two pounds overnight and invites you to read meaning into it.

A smoothed trend line with the daily noise separated out, so you can see direction rather than water weight.

07 — Origin

Why BurnCal AI was created

Every tracker I tried could tell me what I ate yesterday. None of them helped me decide what to eat in the next twenty minutes.
The reason this exists

BurnCal AI started with a spreadsheet and a frustration. Logging food worked — for about eleven days. Then the friction won: weighing a portion, hunting for the right database entry, guessing at a restaurant meal, and eventually skipping a day, and then a week.

The numbers that did survive were oddly confident. A tracker would report 612 calories for a bowl of pasta it had never seen, with no hint that the real figure sat anywhere between 450 and 800. Accuracy was implied everywhere and explained nowhere.

Two decisions came out of that

The first: reduce logging to something a person can do while holding a fork. A sentence, a photo, or a barcode — whichever is nearest to hand.

The second: be honest about the estimate. Where a figure is a guess, BurnCal AI says how confident it is and lets you correct it. A number you can trust and adjust beats a number that is merely precise.

The AI coach came last, and deliberately narrow. It reads your week and suggests one change — not a plan, not a diagnosis, not a lecture. One change, the kind you can still be doing in March.

09 — Take a place

Join Early Access

After you sign up, we'll email you a verification link. Once you verify your email, your registration is officially counted toward the Founding 1,000. No payment required today — nothing is charged and no trial starts.

We send one verification email. The link is valid for 72 hours.

If someone sent you their code, enter it here. One code can be applied to a registration, once.

No card, no charge, and no other mailing list. See the privacy notice and terms.

  • Verification is what counts. A registration is added to the Founding 1,000 when the email address is verified — not when the form is submitted.
  • Nothing is charged now. Billing details are only asked for when early access opens on August 25, 2026, and only if you choose to continue.
  • One referral code per registration. A code can be shared with as many people as you like, but each new registration applies one code, once, and it cannot be changed afterwards.
  • You keep your place if you go quiet. There is no activity requirement between now and launch.

10 — Questions

Frequently asked

When does early access begin?

August 25, 2026. Founding members receive their access link on that date, at the email address they verified.

What exactly does the Founding 1,000 give me?

25% off your first three paid months — $9.99 a month becomes $7.49. If 1,000 verified members join by the deadline, every founding member is upgraded to 50% off those same three months — $4.99 a month — including those who joined on day one. The 50% rate replaces the 25% rate rather than stacking with it, and the regular $9.99 a month applies to monthly subscribers afterwards.

What counts as a verified member?

An email address whose owner has opened the verification link. Submitting the form is not enough, which is deliberate: it keeps the public counter honest and keeps the cohort free of addresses that were never really there.

The verification email has not arrived.

Check your Spam and Promotions folders first — that is where it usually is. If it is genuinely missing, submit the form again with the same address after a minute or two and a fresh link is sent. The previous link stops working when a new one is issued.

How do referral codes work?

Every verified member gets a code. You may share it with as many people as you like. Each new registration can apply one code, one time: codes cannot be changed after they are applied, and attribution is locked as soon as the referred person verifies their email. A referral counts only after that verification, and you cannot apply your own code to your own registration.

My referral code was rejected.

Codes are issued by BurnCal AI and checked against our records. Spacing, the hyphen and capitalisation do not matter, but every letter and digit must match — a code with a character changed is a different code and is refused. If yours is not accepted, ask the person who sent it to copy it from their status page.

Where do I see my member number and referrals?

On your early access status page. Enter your registered address and we email a single-use link that expires in 20 minutes. We deliberately do not put an email address into a public URL.

Do I pay anything now?

No. No card is collected at signup and no trial starts. You are reserving a rate, not opening a subscription.

Will my email be used for anything else?

It is used to verify your registration, to send your access link at launch, and for occasional notes about the Founding 1,000 in between. It is not sold, not shared with advertisers, and every message carries an unsubscribe link. The privacy notice sets out the detail.

Which platforms will it run on?

Web at early access, with iOS and Android following. Your log syncs across whichever you use.

I already have access. Where do I sign in?

At app.burncalai.com. This page is only for the early-access campaign.
